British Military Swords is able to provide a full consultation and valuation service to clients This includes:

1. Full written description of item(s).
   
   
2. Current market value appraisals for insurance purposes.
   
   
3. All information presented on a certificate - see below.
   
   

To enable British Military Swords to provide the best possible appraisal service, please provide the following information:

1. High resolution colour photographs or images. Photographs can also be sent by email or via the postal service (they will be returned after use).
   
   
2. If not evident on photographs, please supply all information regarding markings, particularly makers marks.
   
   
3. CONDITION - list any damage or repairs that you can find.
   
   
4. Dimensions - blade length and overall length from top of pommel to tip of blade.
   
   
5. Provenance - if available, eg., family history, when or where it was published.

British Military Swords will process your appraisal as soon as we receive payment. You will then be contacted via email. In most cases, appraisal will be completed within five (5) working days and a certificate sent immediately via priority/first class post.

British Military Swords is happy to provide a consignment service for customers wishing to sell items on this site. Please adhere to the following conditions in order to make the experience mutually beneficial.

Please email good quality, high resolution photographs of the item(s), or post good quality photographs for us to scan. Below are examples of the quality and type of photographs required. If you follow these style guidelines you will greatly enhance your chances of making a sale.

There is no charge for scanning or placing photographs on the website.

If a sale is agreed, British Military Swords will immediately forward payment to the consignor (following the five day inspection period), less a 15% commision charge for selling the item.

British Military Swords has sole discretion on accepting or removing an item from this website.

The buyer is solely responsible for any VAT or similar taxes payable with shipment of the items. Different countries have different policies with regard to import duties and taxes; please be aware of this before you buy.

All buyers must notify British Military Swords upon receipt of any items in order that the five day inspection period can commence.

If the buyer wishes to return any item after the five day inspection period, the buyer must immediately notify British Military Swords, indicating clearly why the item is unnaceptable. The buyer must agree to cover all expenses associated with such return including postage and insurance. British Military Swords will hold the reimbursment until the item(s) has been returned to the consignor.

Consignors will agree to immediately notify British Military Swords when a consigned item has been sold.

British Military Swords can provide individuals and organisations a full research and consultancy service for those wanting more in-depth information and services.

In his capacity as both author and dealer of British and World Swords, Harvey J.S.Withers can provide clients with a comprehensive and interesting lecture service if required. A fee is payable (+ travel and/or accomodation expenses). Further details are available upon request.
